little mermaid,
----------------------------------------As stated earlier we like to have people join us regardless of prior crunching experience. And we like it when people just stop by to chat. For whatever reason people come here, everyone is welcome. I will do my best not to differentiate members as we are all volunteers. There is no commitment if you join this team. Not for you, Not for me. No need to sign in or out. 11 years ago I was diagnosed with bilateral renal cell carcinoma (cancer in both kidneys). Treatment was hell. Never had so much pain and suffering. It changed my life forever. I'm here because I don't want anyone to have to go through that. That's it. Nothing more. Where else can you do more by doing less? And have fun doing it! So let's not take this so seriously.

When I joined The survivors in 2007 there was one other person on the team and that was the captain hsuk.
----------------------------------------hsuk started the team on February 21, 2006. There was one retired person Gremlin2 that had contributed for 2 days in 2006. hsuk did not communicate and no contact information was available. Earlier this year I realized that hsuk was no longer contributing so i asked WCG if I could be captain. After all, I was the only person on the team. On September 6, 2011 I was assigned captain of The survivors. So, having 7 people contributing, one recruit not contributing, one promise to join, and one interested, this team has made progress for which I am very pleased. I would like to do more but have a day job so my time is limited. In my free time I also use Twitter and Facebook trying to recruit. So if you do post on this forum please be patient. Feel free to use the Mail button below to send an email. And lastly, if you do not know Mary Catherine here is a brief update. MC is 4 and has brain cancer. She is doing well with her treatments and is stable. I check in on her and mention her on Twitter to raise awareness of childhood cancer.

Oh, and I have ordered a new PC combo and some spare parts.
----------------------------------------That is my personal contribution to the WCG 7th birthday challenge. Don't forget they need 100,000 new devices by December 31.

The manual for the Z68 motherboard ordered recently states that it can detect a problem with a LAN cable and tell you the distance to where the short/open is.
----------------------------------------Most techs probably can't do that. Looking at graphics cards and was amazed that they can cost as much as US$7,000 each. CrossFire or SLI could be expensive. Think I will stay with the onboard graphics for now.

The parts start to arrive tomorrow. I am getting up at 5:00 AM to make sure I am first in line.
----------------------------------------TADA.... In the last couple of weeks I have acquired 2 new badges and 1 aha! My legal counsel is locked in a room with my list of "I survived". Can't post it without their approval. May have to trim the list. Not that I have a scarlet past; just want to make sure all statute of limitations have run out.
