AMD Opteron Performance

Hello friends,

How are you?

I'm configuring a machine to dedicate to the projects Drug Search for Leishmaniasis, Computing for Clean Water, Help Conquer Cancer and Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy - Phase 2.

My preference is a system with two AMD Opteron Processors 6128 with 8-core each, total 16 cores.

But, I have a question about performance of AMD Processors in WCG.

The performance of AMD is comparable to Intel?

Where can I find a benchmark of processor performance in WCG?

Regards!

Re: AMD Opteron Performance

I'm running a couple older Opterons, 2180 I think. Anyway, they complete the DSFL units in anywhere from 5-7 hours and HCC in 1:15. A comparable Intel (2.8 ghz) should show similar results assuming they aren't using hyperthreading.
