Re: Reduced HFCC project priority

Chiba is in Japan. And, yes, the WCG techs and staff are in constant communication with all of their projects' scientists and technicians.

Thanks for clarifying

Re: Reduced HFCC project priority

I am happy that the entire project is not completely affected. Even with reduced feeder work units we are still making progress towards the end. I am sure things will be fixed as soon as possible.

Re: Reduced HFCC project priority

I, too, am also happy that the entire project hasn't ground to a halt (yet), although it would be nice to hear from the scientists involved with this project every now and again (yes, I know they're in Japan, but translation software is now pretty reasonable). After all, I for one, don't wish it to end up in a situation similar to HCMD2, where it's ground to an entire halt - through an issue which we were led to believe wouldn't be able to be looked into until after the summer holidays in France. We're now half way through October, and still haven't heard anything official...

Edit: After doing some investigatory work through the Posts by Science Project Representatives thread, I've found the following;

•Help Fight Childhood Cancer
◦Akira Nakagawara MD, PhD, primary investigator, Chiba Cancer Center Research Institute
post count = 3, last = Jun 10, 2010.

•Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy
◦Dr. Alessandra Carbone, primary investigator, Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris.
Post Count: 16, last = Aug 14, 2011.

◦Sophie Sacquin-Mora, chofie, scientist, Institut de Biologie Physico-Chimique, Paris.
Post Count: 8, last = Nov 25, 2010.

◦Michael Heymann, gemineo, scientist
Post Count = 25, last = Oct 4, 2011.
It appears from this last post, that he's now no longer directly involved with HCMD2.

◦Nicolas Bard, Nico_B, scientist
Post Count = 9, last = Feb 27, 2010

This, to me, doesn't look that well represented, when other scientists (CEP2 & FA@H to name but two), do manage to keep us informed as to what's going on. After all, it only takes a few moments during a brief bit of 'downtime' to post a comment on this forum.

Edit 2: Corrected the country that they're based in.

Re: Reduced HFCC project priority

Yesterday had a reported ~23 CPU years, which on a normal production ~55 gives a good indication how much still spilled over into the multi / all project crunching pool.

Re: Reduced HFCC project priority

I have not heard anything. If it involves spending money, there may be a lot of administrative oversight.

Re: Reduced HFCC project priority

I hope it is not effecting the rest of their operation.

I hate to think about the kids that die every week because of this disease.

The thought of a bureaucracy slowing things up makes me grumpy.

Re: Reduced HFCC project priority

This problem has been resolved on the Chiba server although there is still a backlog of results. Once this backlog has been reduced, the feeder priority will be returned to it's original level.
