If the WU has a quorum of 2 and one of the wingman does not crunch the unit before the due date it will be listed as a no reply. Another copy of the WU will be sent out to another machine. When it is returned and the results match yours they will both be validated and both will get credit.

Re: How many "no answer" ?

Just wonder you wonder about. All Late/Repair jobs go to reliable computers [those known as doing < 0.2% invalid and average < 2 days return. This does not mean it's 100% for sure the first to receive the late/repair copy will do it before the short deadline these jobs get assigned, but that's about 99.999% certain. How many "No Replies" before circulation stops? No one has yet seen a No Reply to a No Reply to a No Reply in production.

More detail you'll find in the Start Here FAQ's, probably the deadline topic.

Re: How many "no answer" ?

Well to be honest I think it highly unlikely you would get four or more no replys in a row on a workunit. After the second no reply the system sends it to a computer it records as being very fast and very prompt and accurate in sending workunits back completed. Usually these will run at high priority by BOINC when the computer they are received on sees them.

Now if there is a bad workunit that errors out several times then the system in charge of the project puts a halt to the workunit and aborts it from the system so the techs can figure out what is wrong with the workunit.

There was a bad batch of workunits in the DSFL project that caused it to be halted and the workunit batch to be redone for example.

Re: How many "no answer" ?

Normally, except for HPF2, the server does not send more than 7 copies of a WU. That is 2 initial ones and 5 resends for a quorum 2.

Usually the cases where 7 copies are necessary are when the WU is in error and all copies fail.

Regarding No reply it's already rare that there are two for the same WU, I can hardly imagine that the maximum 7 copies be reached only because of a cascade of No Reply.

Re: How many "no answer" ?

The current functionality in the 'Results Status' webpage pivots on the cruncher; that is, a list of a cruncher's WUs that are of a status-type. For example, if the filter is set to Result Status: in-progress, a list is returned of all WUs of the cruncher that are in-progress.

There is another functionality which is not currently a feature of the 'Results Status' webpage: a dataset that pivots on the wingMachine (and not on the cruncherMachine). Here, what a cruncher is interested to know is how many wingWUs (and not a cruncher's WUs) are of a certain status. If this wingMachine-pivot functionality is available along with the cruncherMachine-pivot functionality, and both can be used at the same time, for your case, set the cruncherMachine-pivot to "Valid" and next set the wingMachine-pivot to "No Reply". That should return a list of your WUs which are "Valid", with the wingWUs of a status of "No Reply".

As long as a WU is a wingWU, you should get a list of all WUs (with at least one wingWU with a No-Reply status) that was associated (in a quorum) with your valid WU. Now if only the wingMachine-pivot functionality is available...

Re: How many "no answer" ?

No Reply is issued 7 to 10 days after original issue. Filter on PV and sort on receipt date, look at bottom. Anything > 7 (for HCC) or > 10 (all other projects), has a no-reply wingman (lest the circulation was suspended).

A filter on Valid and as secondary to find out which have e.g. No Reply... nice to know for the few. Probably I missed the broader value to justify the programming/testing expense. Other options requests such as seeing if a task was validated the current day has been around for years. Some like to see how much their credit will be, but then using a tool such as WCGDAWS by pirogue already fills that gap and does allot more for the result stats annalist amongst the crunchers.
