We have set up a team on World Community Grid because most of the research supported by grid members is relevant to the children we look after, who live in Kenya.

Hello little mermaid,
Thankyou for answering our message. Yes, your idea about contacting people on our other websites that are listed on our team page is a good one. We have 739 members on Kiva.org, 240 members on betterplace.org, and we are at present taking part in a competition on Global Giving in which 270 charities are competing, (we are at present placed second), and many of the charities are fantastic. We are hoping to start the team up here on wcg, and to then recommend wcg and our team to our supporters on Kiva, betterplace, facebook and twitter. Our only concern with wcg is the possible effect wcg may have on our telephone bill for the extra internet usage, so we are waiting until tomorrow when we get our telephone bill to see what effect wcg has on our bill. You have a great base to tap from there
Don't you have a flat rate Internet connection? I never checked the impact, but I'm sure it would be a lesser concern to me than the electricy bill in case you get hooked on this - not to mention adding extra computers  Please stay in touch and keep us updated on your progress out there  |

Hi little mermaid,
Sorry about the delay in answering. We have a very good internet service which is perhaps a little more expensive than some, but we like the fact that the company is a co-operative, and considers care of the environment in the way that it operates. Yes, if the tariff we are on is too expensive now we will see what we can do to get the cost down. We are working out how to 'get around' wcg. Our first new member to join our team is now with us. How do we identify them to make contact with them?. On Kiva we have a lot of new people asking us questions because they do not understand how the site works, so this reminds us what it must be like to have to find your way around a site that is new to you.  You are making progress fast!One new member already - that's very good. To the best of my knowledge you will not be able to make contact with your members unless your members choose to let you do so. Your members can let you be able to contact them by saying so upon joining your team, and that way you will be able to e-mail them. Otherwise, you can hope they come here - and maybe they state an e-mail address as for instance I do, but you don't. Yes, there is a lot to get aquainted with here; if you have any specific questions, do ask them and we shall do our best to help. I wish you a pleasant week as well, Helen and David |

A few days ago I made this recipe for kffitzgerald, and you may want it, too. Go to your "My Forum Profile" I made this link for you to use until you have your own ready as you wish it to be:- grayest bar ^^^^ up there, second item from the right - click "Change my signature" - fill in the field <having the link to your team page ready is handy> - click "Preview" and if it looks like you want it - click "Change Signature" And you're all set - ready to receive new members And, of course, you can change it whenever you want along the road  P.S. tinyurl.com is a handy place for shortening long links .. taught to me by keithhenry *Please join Tareto Maa (Childrens Charity)* All you have to do is hit the "Quote" button at the top of this post and copy what is inside the asterisks, and paste where it should be according to above recipe. |
