FAAH Webcast 1st December.

I wanted to thank very much Dr. Alex Perryman for the very interesting presentation yesterday. And also many thanks to the organizers who during the Q&A session promptly forwarded our questions to Dr. Perryman who answered them.

First I was happy to hear that thanks to our crunching efforts some very promising compounds have been singled out for further research. This presentation, for me was interesting because it pointed out the issue that finding an effective treatment is not enough. The treatment has to remain active over the long term, that is to make it difficult for the virus to adapt to it. The computer time that we offer to support this research is absolutely necessary to answer this type of issue.

I know that finding a vaccine is not the objective of Dr. Perryman's research, but I am convinced that if we can find effective treatments that keep the virus in check and at very low levels, which renders an infected individual non contagious at all, sexually or by other means, then if all infected humans could get these therapies (price is a major issue here), over one or two generations this virus would be eradicated.

Dear member Hypernova,

Thank you for the kind and positive feedback.

Quite often people who appreciate what is being done on World Community Grid remain silent so your comments were appreciated!!!

Thank you.

Re: FAAH Webcast 1st December.

This was the first one I was not able to watch in real time. I will surely do so when it is posted online. Thanks Dr. Perryman!

Re: FAAH Webcast 1st December.

Did double tagged Re-search filter of Project Event + Video, and see as yet only the previous FAAH.

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/research/re...amp;sortBy=&pageNum=1

For admin, the last HPF2 webcast replay does not show when selecting video as search focus. Maybe when there's the next webcast event, first tag it under Project Event, then when the on-line video is ready, update the event description to add the vid link and double tag the event to the Video search as well. Then the interested have the video with preamble.

Hi Sek,

We have added the 'Video' tag to the FightAIDS@Home and Human Proteome Folding webcasts.

Thank you for letting us know!

Re: FAAH Webcast 1st December.

After finally getting a chance to watch the replay (I was away last week, and thus, not able to watch the live feed), I'd also like to pass on my thanks to all involved in bringing us this valuable feedback. It IS appreciated biggrin

Re: FAAH Webcast 1st December.

Just adding to the "Thank You" list.

Not only did I enjoy the webcast, but my fiance took the opportunity to watch it with me to get a better understanding of what the project was actually about. I'm happy to report that she found it as enjoyable as I did smile

So much so that I think it may help pave the way for my SR-2/G34 build I've been eyeing for some time now biggrin

biggrin Re: FAAH Webcast 1st December.

Hello Hypernova,

You are very welcome.

You are correct--one of the most difficult issues is trying to find compounds that not only work well against the current drug-resistant mutant "superbugs" but that also make it much harder for the virus to be able to adapt to them. And we definitely do need your support to be able to perform so many massive virtual screens this quickly!

Thank you for your interest and your support. And have a very happy New Year!

Best wishes,
Dr. Alex L. Perryman
