Solarian seems a little plain as does Solux but just now these are what come to mind.

Solatroph Pluribus may be a little more cerebral

Re: Suggestions for names a new computer cluster at Harvard

You guys have been coming up with some awesome suggestions! The competition is still open for another couple of days, so if you have additional ideas you can still post them here.
Dear Rickjb,
Si-based molecular compounds unfortunately don't show the right electronic properties, however, so called Si-heterocycles (i.e., molecules with conjugated carbon-rings in which one carbon is replaced by a Si) are a very interesting class of materials.
Best wishes from
Your Harvard CEP team

Strawberry and Raspberry. I used to name computers in our lab after greek gods but why not keep it simple.

Short yes simple....

RA = Radium
Sorta what we are trying to get away from here isn't it wink

(you can make fun of my idea DAWN, unless there is a good acronym for it maybe Don't Always Want Nuclear?)

Edit: Ok I never took chemistry so I'm reading the periodic table to look up RA and I find 'Ununpentium'
This would seem to me to be a great name for a computer that is SO NOT A PENTIUM...
(P.S. I don't know what Ununpentium is nor do I really care just another bad pun in my repertoire.)

Re: Suggestions for names a new computer cluster at Harvard

The new cluster for the Aspuru-Guzik Group has arrived and our friends at FAS-RC have set it up. We now close the entries for the naming competition and will soon announce the procedure for the next round. Stay tuned!

Re: Suggestions for names a new computer cluster at Harvard

Hi everybody,
Our call for suggestions to name our new in-house cluster was a big success. We received a ton of great suggestions on the WCG forum, facebook, and twitter. Thanks so much for all your input! In the first selection round, all the candidates were rated by an internal jury. Some suggestions did not quite make the cut for formal, technical, or practical reasons. The best 24 candidates were chosen for the final round and now YOU have the chance to select the ultimate winner of this little competition. You can vote following the link below! May the best name win biggrin
