In the BOINC manager there is an icon at the bottom that says 'Disconnected' and the icon in the taskbar says 'Not connected to a client'.
----------------------------------------I've tried restarting the computer and repairing the install and neither have been successful. I couldn't find anything with this specific message in the FAQ - is it there and I missed it, or does anyone have other suggestions? edit: Running Win7 Enterprise SP1 (64bit) and boinc*32.exe looks to be running. No other connectivity issues (can browse internet and connect to VPNs as needed). [Edit 1 times, last edit by amiked at Apr 4, 2012 2:06:55 AM] |

Hello amiked,
Sounds puzzling. You should be running boinc*32.exe and boincmgr.exe. BOINC Manager should be connected to BOINC using port 31416. If a security program disallows this connection then the Messages tab should say 'can't connect to local host'. Could you post the startup messages in your Messages tab? Lawrence |

boincmgr.exe & boinctray.exe (both *32) are running.
----------------------------------------All tabs in the BOINC Manager are blank. Selecting 'Copy all messages', then pasting to Notepad++ gives me nothing (as there are no messages to copy). Is there a way to check/verify the port is being used or open? It should be noted it was working just fine 24 hours ago, shut the computer down last night, turned it on ~18 hours later without installing updates or changing anything, but now I'm getting the not able to connect message. Thanks for the quick reply and assistance, Lawrence! *edit: Also, it looks like it's still working. The 'Tasks' tab in Manager is empty, but all the cores (of my Core i7) are chugging away. Which is not normal since there are no other programs running. [Edit 1 times, last edit by amiked at Apr 4, 2012 4:00:49 AM] |

BOINC*32.EXE is apparently still working. The problem is that BOINC Manager is not letting you see what is going on. Task Manager should let you check on which projects are running.
I hope somebody else has heard of a similar problem. Lawrence |
