Something funky has been going on....
I did not make any changes to one system and weird it is registered as a new device in my device profiles... one system is getting work and another I keep getting this error.. 4/4/2012 6:52:31 AM World Community Grid URL http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/; Computer ID 1597026; resource share 100 4/4/2012 6:52:31 AM World Community Grid General prefs: from World Community Grid (last modified 18-Mar-2012 11:16:33) 4/4/2012 6:52:31 AM World Community Grid Host location: none 4/4/2012 6:52:31 AM World Community Grid General prefs: using your defaults 4/4/2012 6:52:31 AM Reading preferences override file 4/4/2012 6:52:31 AM Preferences: 4/4/2012 6:52:31 AM max memory usage when active: 24567.08MB 4/4/2012 6:52:31 AM max memory usage when idle: 24567.08MB 4/4/2012 6:52:32 AM max disk usage: 40.00GB 4/4/2012 6:52:32 AM (to change preferences, visit the web site of an attached project, or select Preferences in the Manager) 4/4/2012 6:52:32 AM Not using a proxy 4/4/2012 6:52:32 AM Suspending computation - initial delay 4/4/2012 6:56:07 AM World Community Grid update requested by user 4/4/2012 6:56:07 AM World Community Grid Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. 4/4/2012 6:56:07 AM World Community Grid Reporting 5 completed tasks, requesting new tasks for CPU and GPU 4/4/2012 6:56:41 AM Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 4/4/2012 6:56:41 AM World Community Grid Scheduler request failed: Transferred a partial file 4/4/2012 6:56:42 AM Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. 4/4/2012 6:57:18 AM World Community Grid update requested by user 4/4/2012 6:57:21 AM World Community Grid Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. 4/4/2012 6:57:21 AM World Community Grid Reporting 5 completed tasks, requesting new tasks for CPU and GPU 4/4/2012 6:57:53 AM Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 4/4/2012 6:57:53 AM World Community Grid Scheduler request failed: Transferred a partial file 4/4/2012 6:57:54 AM Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. 4/4/2012 7:21:23 AM World Community Grid update requested by user 4/4/2012 7:21:28 AM World Community Grid Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. 4/4/2012 7:21:28 AM World Community Grid Reporting 5 completed tasks, requesting new tasks for CPU and GPU 4/4/2012 7:22:00 AM Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 4/4/2012 7:22:00 AM World Community Grid Scheduler request failed: Transferred a partial file 4/4/2012 7:22:02 AM Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. I had the partial file message when I had selected a science project that currently did not have work and my BOINC installation did not have the files for that science. By that I mean I had not done any work for that science on that computer and so the executable and any associated files had never been downloaded. On my Windows BOINC it was one of the intermittent CPU projects. On my VM Linux BOINC it was the opt in for Beta testing.
When I selected an active project and deselected the intermittent project in Windows BOINC device (Home) the partial file messages stopped. When I left FAAH selected and deselected Beta in Linux BOINC device (Work) the partial file messages stopped. The reason I had selected only an intermittent CPU project on the Windows BOINC was that I only wanted to do GPU beta work or any CPU beta tasks that also downloaded. I have configured the Windows BOINC to run only 1 BOINC core. The 6 core Linux BOINC I added the Beta opt in to increase my total of Beta work completed. I don't know why the Linux BOINC got the partial file message when it had Beta selected, perhaps it was trying to download a GPU task and it does not have a usable GPU as you can't crunch on a GPU in a VM. All I know is that when I deselected Beta the message went away. Perhaps you could try deselecting any projects or Beta on that device that currently do not have work available and see if that fixes it. |

I'm not sure that partial file is the issue here!
----------------------------------------The time stamp and the message Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. indicates this occured at a time when the server was down (for a period of 3 hours). See the discussion here: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,32926 ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by jonnieb-uk at Apr 4, 2012 1:07:11 PM] |

Hello choj01,
'project servers may be down' means that BOINC is not communicating with the server. The problem may be on the computer that BOINC is running on. Or there may be a temporary glitch affecting some but not all messages. Lawrence |

fixed the issue with system getting no work.. after running the installation repair.. got the same error ended up resetting the project had to dump the 5 WU that could not be reported.. apparently the local scheduler file was trashed likely do to HCMD2 small work units getting done faster then they can come in so it something happening a ton... work is flowing again.. like how small they are.. but apparently this is what happened..
