How games can help cure AIDs, cancer, etc

I just read a very interesting article about how some scientists have created online games to help decipher known puzzles that have had scientists stumped for years. Here the link to the article in CNN:

http://www.cnn.com/interactive/2012/08/tech/g...s/research.html?hpt=te_t1

From what I got from the speed read I did of the article, there are two (maybe more) online games: EterRNA and Foldit. So if you like puzzles and want to help cure diseases, it might be worth the time to try it out... I know I will.

I find the concept really innovative. I always had the thought in the back of my mind that gamer's machines would be a great source of crunching, but it never occurred to me that there could be games that could help solve diseases like cancer and AIDS. I hope it is successful... another way to attack these illness' that plague mankind.

I tried foldit....
I didn't make it through the practice puzzles....
but if I was smart I would be a scientlist I guess...
To any of you I would say TRY IT!!!
You can make even more of a difference if you try!
(I'll just crunch happily)

@pramo... you're welcome !!! It's always fun to mess with somebody else's head tongue . I gave EterRNA a spin for a while last night and it is very interesting... although it did stump me pretty fast. I'll figure it out...

I registered and have solved the first 15 challenges, it actually gets easier (so far anyway) as you go along. Probably wouldn't hurt me to take a few minutes and look at the player guides wink
