Re: Computing for Sustainable Water project nearing completion

By my calculations I'll need another 30 days to reach Sapphire, so now that my Emerald badge has arrived I've aborted the rest of my CFSW workunits, leaving another 941 for the masses. I would have liked to put some blue sky behind those hills, but green will have to do for now.

Hopefully, we won't get any surprises with other projects as we did with this one. It really threw off my badge planning.

Re: Computing for Sustainable Water project nearing completion

Right now we have a huge amount of results to analyze just for this model. We have not planned on a second phase.

We have pondered making improvements and extensions to this model and re-running it and also building a similar model for a different region of the world. But at least for the foreseeable future, we do not see a second phase.

Many thanks again to all the members crunching these work units for us!

Re: Computing for Sustainable Water project nearing completion

My cache and PV workunits should give me Emerald tomorrow, so I stopped downloading CFSW workunits and switched back to other projects. Good luck badge hunters :)

I should reach Sapphire with the midnight update, but whatever I have enough 'in the bank' to reach my goal. So I have just released 500+ WUs back into the wild. Good luck snaring them to reach your own goal.

Re: Computing for Sustainable Water project nearing completion

Well, with my current calculations, I've got '1 WU spare'. In a few days time, I'll download some more (for insurance purposes) and as soon as it's confirmed that I'll hit Ruby, those will be let free again.

Re: Computing for Sustainable Water project nearing completion

GPL UVa, thanks for the update - as for pondering as to whether to re-run (with different parameters/a more 'in depth' investigation/covering different areas etc.), please feel free - I'm sure that there's crunchers out there (me included), who'd certainly help you out (as it'd help me reach Emerald - and possibly even Sapphire, for CFSW).

Re: Computing for Sustainable Water project nearing completion

Apparently CFSW doesn't like to be restarted, since had 3 tasks erroring-out after Microsoft's latest updates and accompanying re-boot. sad

Appart for these tasks erroring-out, and many tasks being stuck in PV, things seems to progress nicely, and should reach sapphire within 6 days.
