The text 'HD 6670' does not appear on the latest graphics-cards list under the 'confirmed to not be able to run the project' heading. So there's a good chance that the card-type would be suitable come crunching the production HCC-GPU-WUs. As for the particular brand of the card-type, ASUS in this case, well, I find ASUS branded products as of good-quality.

Your welcome.

For the sake of thoroughness, I have to point out that the list of what's-in and what's-out in WCG's graphics-cards list may yet change and that is no different as far as lists usually go.

Re: ASUS AMD Radeon HD 6670 PCI-E Graphics Card - 2 GB

I have a 1GB AMD ATI HD6670 GDDR5 128bit card. My card has worked fine on the few beta test(CPU+graphics card) WU's I've been been given.

Re: ASUS AMD Radeon HD 6670 PCI-E Graphics Card - 2 GB

Hi Guys,
since I am novice with "modern" graphic cards, and not a gamer as well, I need some help.
Because my old (>5 years) graphic adapter died suddenly, I've bought some weeks ago a Asus HD6570.
I've installed the driver and Catalyst from the CD delivered by Asus.
After some experiments to run hcc1 WUs, I am still not successful.
All GPU related WUs experienced computational error after a couple of seconds.
The latest error message, I notice is:
Output file X0900071181470200607061114_1_0 for task X0900071181470200607061114_1 absent

I don't have any idea what I did wrong or did not do.
In advance, I thank you for your support.
Cheers,
Yves

Uninstall the drivers you installed from the CD. Because you're using XP you'll need an older version of ATI drivers to make your card work. I have a link I'll post for you when I get home from work if you can't find them. I use version 11.8 on my XP machine but I've heard that up to version 12.1 will work. After you uninstall the old drivers download and run a program called Driver Sweeper to remove any old remnants of the old drivers before installing the new.
I recommend that during the install process you select the custom install feature to see what will be installed. You must have a choice to install the APP SDK runtime. That and the video driver are what's needed to run the GPU tasks. That's the only parts that I install but that is up to you. Just be advised that 7xxx cards will not run on XP in case you might be thinking of updating to one at some later date.

older catalyst drivers

Hi Nanoprobe,
I thank you for your advice. I did everything according to your recommendation, but the same error remain after new / fresh driver installation and reboot.
I used the driver source you mentioned after I uninstalled and cleaned up the drivers previously installed.
I only installed SDK and the drivers, no ccc.

I surely oversee something, but I don't know what !

Cheers,
Yves

Re: ASUS AMD Radeon HD 6670 PCI-E Graphics Card - 2 GB

SekeRob recently recommended BOINC 7.0.36 for GPU use. BOINC 6.10.58 is the most recent update security-checked by WCG.

biggrin Your decision.
Lawrence

Added: Uninstall before updating.
