This has been going on since about when the GPU / WU quota restriction were set. No trouble whatsoever to get HCC1 jobs to appear on my Windows cruncher, when set exclusive... a mere change of project selection is enough. Neither my permanent Linux quad, nor my test Octo Linux get them. All else comes, but not HCC1, not even a platform un-availability warning of the type "There's work. but it's been assigned to otehr platforms":

To get HCC CPU tasks on Linux had to:
1) Deselect in the web profile: If my computer can process work on my graphics card, then please send me work to run on my graphics card for the projects that I have selected above. Which gave me the error that the work for NVidia or ATI GPU can be processed, but no specific message for HCC not being available. This is reproducable. In effect, if you select the "if my computer can"...you dont get them for CPU, if you do not allow that what you cant get to process during use, you wont get the CPU version either. Works it's magic for GPU crunchers, and black arts for those that dont. |

Only last night realized the embarrassing fact, that my Ubuntu 12.10 testdrive [with which I'm very happy in terms of performance] did not have the 32 bit libs installed [something I mentioned near start of the " I Confez" thread some 2 years ago]. It's though [fill in the blank], that all 32 bit projects just say "No work available for...", without qualifying that it is involving not having a 64 bit version. The SN2S/DSFL/GFAM have no trouble arriving, and dear me, the speed they process on Ubuntu/Linux compared to Windows justifies fast-track scheduling FAAH/HPF2 porting to 64 bits, with longer longevity in them, first for Linux, pretty please! cheers |

To add to the apparent state of ia32-libs missing [no error messages to suggest so], the old install command
----------------------------------------sudo apt-get install ia32-libs no longer works on xxbuntu 12.10 and instead proposes to install substitute libraries which I did. sudo apt-get install lib32z1 lib32ncurses5 lib32bz2-1.0 lib32asound2 (verbatim copy from terminal i.e. no typos possible]. After running this, and setting HCC as an exclusive app, the 32 bit tasks were happily fetched and now run.... 8 concurrent. Let's see how that compares to most recent Windows7-64 run series. edit: Do not forget, after installing these libs to stop start the BOINC daemon via the Manager or via terminal.
