Hi Everybody,
Today, the GO Fight Against Malaria project had its first birthday! In the last year, we've submitted over 570 million different docking jobs that search for new inhibitors against fourteen different classes of drug targets. Your donated computer time has given us over 16,136 CPU years worth of calculations. That's an achievement worth celebrating! Hi Dataman,
Thank you very much. I'm glad that you enjoy helping to advance our project. We need all the computer cycles we can get. We have now submitted over 610 million different docking jobs for this project. Actually, I designed, created, and submitted all of these docking jobs for the GO Fight Against Malaria project (and for almost all of the FightAIDS@Home project). That's part of the reason why it takes me a while to analyze the results. But I definitely appreciate the help and support I get from both teams of scientists. Thank you for your support, Alex L. Hello andzgrid,
Thank you very much. I'm glad that you enjoy helping to advance our research. We are not currently planning to re-write Vina for use on GPUs. Vina is already super-fast, when compared to other docking programs. GPU-enabling Vina might not actually improve the speed much (different programs get much more of an increase in speed on GPUs than other programs). Besides, the Olson lab does not have enough extra personnel to devote the time required to re-write the Vina code for GPUs. But if other scientists re-write it for GPUs and it does significantly increase the speed while maintaining the same level of accuracy, then we will consider testing their code and using it.
