Re: OK, what happened?

If you had no shilling, you'd be sitting chilling in the dark too today [given that central heating requires electricity for the pump :O].

Re: OK, what happened?

Wow, even though decimal coinage was introduced in 1971, a working example of that "meter" could have been used all the way up until 1990 when the shilling and 5 pence coins were taken out of circulation and replaced by a smaller coin.

I currently pay £0.1338 for a Kw/h..... makes me wonder how often the meter would need to be emptied now smile

Maybe THAT was the reason the system went down....The meter was full biggrin

Re: OK, what happened?

Here, Southeast US, the newest latest greatest power company system is called Prepaid, you deposit funds in advance on your account and are billed, and funds withdrawn, DAILY. they notify you via emaill or text when you balance gets below a preset, by you, amount, if balance goes to zero, the light go out. If the lights go out, you go online and "Feed the meter" AKA deposit more funds ;)

b. Insert inverter in cigarette lighter
c. Run extension cord from inverter to power strip to run computer, modem, monitor, etc.
