What's the point of anonymity in the first exposure of a beta? A transition from secrecy to declaration? Keep everyone guessing? I wonder why an (AMD or Intel) engineering-sample chip is not labelled by an anonymous identifier. thinking

Maybe for PR purposes?

I imagine that, for PR purposes, the product is unmistakably identified and made to stand out loud and proud -- and not taking cover under anonymity as if ashamed or unsure of its identity.
