I recently changed my PC's system hard drive to a SSD.
As the SSD has the read/write times limit issue, I don't want it to work on the WCG programs. But I don't mind other HDs to work. It will be wonderful if user can select which hard drive to donate to WCG. |

You can! During installation of the Boinc Manager, select 'Advanced' and select the option to allow a 'non-default' path for the data folder.
----------------------------------------Well, that works for Win7 64bit Don't know if you can change it any other time...

Hello Mamajuanauk,
Don't know if you can change it any other time... You can't. This decision is made during the installation.Lawrence |

However, you can shut down the BOINC client...copy the Project Data folder...uninstall BOINC...Reinstall BOINC telling it to save the data directory on the other drive...then copy the old data directory into the new one....then start BOINC client. It should now work with the data on the new location. It really isn't that difficult to do.
----------------------------------------On a side note, most SSD's I've seen will outlive typical PC life cycles before BOINC will kill it. YMMV ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

To not get into problems with access-rights, especially if installing as service, always copy the directory before re-installing BOINC. ![]() "I make so many mistakes.
