Whenever I try to set up a custom device profile and click save, when I view the profile again it has reverted to whatever preset it was on before. Any ideas as to why this is happening?

Hello mrongey,
I only have 1 computer which runs on my 'home' profile. I have checked 'Set as default' under Custom Profile on 'home'. Every other profile duplicates 'home'. I suspect that I should uncheck 'Set as default' if I want 2 different profiles. This is a guess on my part, possibly wrong. Lawrence |

mrongey,
Please visit the Device Profile topic [Section 2 item K of the Start Here FAQs index, stickied above all forums]. Long as you don't change the key elements that make up the parms of a preset profile such as Standard, any customization to the other profile options does not make the profile radio button highlight change, but, your changes do save and get transmitted to the client on next connection with server. To quote the italicized text of the subject FAQ When saving a Custom Profile (CP) and all options of the above table have remained unchanged from pre-set, the device profile on next visit will show the original radio button as checked, e.g. Standard Settings instead of CP. All other changes will though have saved properly. This helps to signify which of the pre-set profiles form the base of the CP on later visits. The table in the FAQ will allow you to restore a profile to a preset combination if you think you messed up. BTW, I'll need to revisit the FAQ as the first item [Use no more than X% of processor time:] is now 50% default for any new member, not 60%. Also the screenshot links seem to have evapped... at least I don't see them. |

Thanks for the explanation, Sekerob. I was puzzled since it never gave me any problems.
