Re: Could it be that slow machines receive too many points?

Hi all sorry to be boring and go and answer the question but the reason is this was the first WU returned by your fine machine

As it's the first WU the PC hasn't been benchmarked (which occurs at the end of each Work Unit before the PC returns the result)

Consequently you had a 1 days 21 hours worth of the standard PC a 1.5Ghz Machine scoring 100 before at the end of that unit you revert back to the true power of your machine 300Mhz

It's all in the FAQ here http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=1505

Sorry to be a bore again but this is one really for the Member to Member support forum or something to chat about in chat maybe

Sorry to be a pain just like to keep the place fairly tidy.

and that makes it better how?

As for his ideas, on the first post, they don't seem to work, not surprisingly the number he's stated are expected (I would have thought) the P4 gets more points than the lower spec - dur.

Am i missing something?

Re: Could it be that slow machines receive too many points?

Hi David!

Consequently you had a 1 days 21 hours worth of the standard PC a 1.5Ghz Machine scoring 100 before at the end of that unit you revert back to the true power of your machine 300Mhz

The machine has now completed a second work unit -- 1 day and 7 hours -- it
got 341 points which is almost EXACTLY the same rate per day as the first
unit. So obviously the benchmark score at the end of the work unit is applied
to the whole work duration. It's not applied to future crunching only.

My crap machine still gets too many points...

Best, Stefan.

Re: Could it be that slow machines receive too many points?

Hi, There.
It appears that all users get an average of between 25 and 28 points per hour of runtime. And Time is as important as the amount of results returned.

My teammate Krazie Kellie has a slow machine:

I have a fast one:

I have more results than KrazieK but half the runtime, but i'm catching up and if we had the same runtime I would be far ahead.

But I,ll need a server farm to catch up to :

Have a nice day, and feel free to join Team USMC and be part of a small team with big points.
