Re: SNURK and friends - Hop on to say hi

Eh, obyte is a crypto group with over 35x the members, crunching with some amount of financial motive. Can't say I'm super surprised. But SNURK is still punching way past its weight. SNURK is the only (legitimate) team with less than 50 active members in the top 10, and for it to be in the top 5 is amazing, considering the next smallest team has at least 4x the members. Pretty impressive if you ask me! I'm with y'all until Pure; let's keep that #4 spot!

I have to agree with all of that!
Congratulations DrMason, on your new Diamond 10 globe!

I Totally agree with that!. And we did keep our #4 spot! Thanks again to all devoted crunchers in our team. To come this far in between these monster teams is just amazing. hugs

And we're not done yet. The Pure challenge starts on November 2nd. Planet 3DNow! is in that challenge too so don't expect we can win it, But it's going to be an interesting battle for #2. Get ready!!

Sounds like a good goal boss! It's time to start that bunkering if not already done so. I started a bit early... wink

Anyone have any experience with a raspberry pi 4? Getting a 8 M ram version to play around with.

Re: SNURK and friends - Hop on to say hi

Hi cswchan! Raspberry Pi 4 can crunch OpenPandemics, taking about 9 hours +/- per work unit. I installed the BOINC manager. The Pi4 runs hot, so consider using a cooler like the Ice Tower or at least pointing a good fan at the board. I run mine at the default 1.5 GHz, but I've heard that they can run fine at 2.0 or 2.1 GHz, which might be useful next week as we will be competing on points rather than time.

And btw, especially since you're crunching for the team, I'm sure SNURK would be happy to fix you up with one of his beautifully designed signatures if you ask wink

Re: SNURK and friends - Hop on to say hi

Cool... thanks for the insight. I just ordered the pi today along with a case and fan, power supply kit. Pi 4B, 8 gb ram. Going to be using a 64 g 100 mb Kingston micro card. Any suggestions on the OS I should be installing? Options now are Android or Raspbian. Thanks

I would check out the raspberry pi foundation's website first: https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/ I am using the Raspberry Pi OS, which used to be called Raspbian, but they list several others toward the bottom of the page. Have fun with the new Pi! good luck

Re: SNURK and friends - Hop on to say hi

Thanks Eugene. Stuff should be arriving sometime tomorrow. Decided to use a 128g Kingston card instead. Difference in the price between the 64 G and 128 g was $10 Canadian. Hopefully set up and running by the weekend.
