Here's a question? Does the app_config.xml file work on Ubuntu and does it work the same as on Windows 7?

Yep, it works exactly the same. You can also do a "read config files" just like you do in Windows to get the latest app_config parameters.

Brill many thanks, where does it 'live' in ubuntu? It depends on how you installed it. You should be able to look in the BOINC Manager event log and find the location. It should be one of the first few messages after you start BOINC. Just in case you haven't already found it, there is a basic text editor called "gedit" that you can use to edit the app_config.xml files and change parameters. Hope that helps. |

If you installed BOINC from the Ubuntu repository, then by default it puts all the WCG files in
----------------------------------------/var/lib/boinc-client/projects/www.worldcommunitygrid.org That directory "belongs" to user "root" rather than to you, so to get listings of files in that directory, or to edit them, you have to make yourself a pseudo root. You do that by putting "sudo" before the Linux command you want to execute. So you'd type cd /var/lib/boinc-client/projects/www.worldcommunitygrid.org sudo gedit app_config.xml ![]() |
