Still Getting 7.24

I'm still getting some v7.24 resends. I thought the new version 7.26 that was just beta-tested and put it into production has changed parameters . Should I still be getting v7.24 work or should the outstanding units have been cancelled?

Cheers coffee

Re: Still Getting 7.24

Hi NixChix,
Why cancel? MCM 7.24 mostly worked. Let the scientists decide if any work units need to be run with MCM 7.26.

Re: Still Getting 7.24

Simple, also discussed in other threads.

Comfortable: Let them run
Uncomfortable: Abort them.[if a client restart does not resync Elapsed/CPU time, consider it dead]

Had one that lasted 50 hours last week [with only 1 computing pass], but also one last night that lasted 5 seconds.

7.26 mcm1 MCM1_0000172_2680_0 00:00:05 (00:00:03) 21-11-2013 05:17 21-11-2013 05:20 60.000 Reported: OK

Anything goes for this science, sitting there in PV with

MCM1_ 0000172_ 2680_ 0-- 2524499 Pending Validation 11/21/13 04:17:02 11/21/13 04:20:10 0.00 / 0.00 0.0 / 0.0

NO tech has said the results are no good, they would have server aborted them as they done before with a previous release. 7.26 was started with higher numbered batches, no overlap with what was run under 7.24 that I can see!

Re: Still Getting 7.24

7.24 are resends of old work units. The results are still valid for the researchers and they will be reviewing those and resending work from those batches at a later date. These resends happen because of the option set on the server to keep all results sent for a work unit to use the same application version.

Thanks,

That's why I asked the question. It's not like things haven't been forgotten in the past. I have seen (and reported) many problems with this project that haven't even been acknowledged.

I just checked the result logs on the jobs that just reported back. Same thing: The client runs more than 2 days and doesn't even start pass 0, yet reports that it ran for just 5 hours. Something is SERIOUSLY wrong.

Cheers coffee

Re: Still Getting 7.24

Yes, debugging the program and work unit creation process is a nearly endless task. The first year is the toughest. If the problem is in the selection of work or creation of work units, the bug can be squashed quickly once it is tracked down, but a bug in the program takes longer to fix since it usually has to wait for a major change that forces the distribution of a new program.

Re: Still Getting 7.24

I just got:

22-Nov-2013 15:10:25 [World Community Grid] Requesting new tasks for CPU
22-Nov-2013 15:10:28 [World Community Grid] Scheduler request completed: got 2 new tasks
22-Nov-2013 15:10:30 [World Community Grid] Started download of wcgrid_mcm1_7.24_i686-pc-linux-gnu
22-Nov-2013 15:10:30 [World Community Grid] Started download of wcgrid_mcm1_gfx_linux_prod_32.x86.7.24
22-Nov-2013 15:10:34 [World Community Grid] Finished download of wcgrid_mcm1_7.24_i686-pc-linux-gnu
22-Nov-2013 15:10:34 [World Community Grid] Finished download of wcgrid_mcm1_gfx_linux_prod_32.x86.7.24

One if them is a resend, one is a brand new 7.24-er workunit. :) Let's crunch them!
Stephan
Update: Look's like I was wrong. The brand new wu seems to be a 7.26, I got only one 7.24 resend.
