Hi WCG techs,
----------------------------------------I don't know, wether this was asked before or this info is available somewhere (didn't find it) or if it's top secret for security reasons: as a tech nerd, I'm just curious about the WCG server and network infrastructure: - how many servers are behind the scenes? - where are they located? - which OSs are they running? - what are they doing? - how powerful are they (CPU; RAM, Storage, ...)? - how much network bandwith does WCG have? Would be interesting to get some insight. Thanks and keep up that great work, Jochen ![]() |

Some years back we switched from a Colorado hosting service to one in Canada. (I think Montreal, but my memory is not reliable.) That is all the detail that I know.

And some HW specifications are known? I have never heard any specs. I expect our people work closely with the hosting staff on that. Lawrence |

While we work to keep World Community Grid very secure, we prefer not to give out details about our server infrastructure. Knowing those might make it easier for someone to mount a more effective denial-of-service attack, for example. If you are interested because you might be creating your own BOINC server intrastructure, there is sufficient information at the boinc.berkeley.edu site.

While we work to keep World Community Grid very secure, we prefer not to give out details about our server infrastructure. Right on. Keep it secure. Cheers

I'm surprised that DDOS attacks against a Computing Grid for Charity is actually a threat that apparently has had to been dealt with in the past, let alone on a daily basis.
