Increasing Points Per Hour?

So here am I storming up the rankings of all but the PPH, which is only showing as 120 as per the SNURK sig.

Is this the way this is calculated, ie is it Points/hours since joining, in my case (for this account) March last year (Registered Member Since: 17/03/13 09:46:06)

OR - is this calculated by Points increase/24 - ie last return

If this is indeed proving my PPH is really low, how can I increase it?

Is this impacted by the fact that about half of my machines only come on line over night?

Suggestions appreciated...

Mamajuana, Pts/h is an average based on the recent past (perhaps 30 days?). It is definitely not since joining. The only way to increase it is to get faster machines or get rid of your slow ones.

Re: Increasing Points Per Hour?

Thanks deltavee, I wondered if it may be something like that.

Most of my machines are 3Ghz, but the 2 MegaCrunchers (64 threads each) are 2.2Ghz, so it may be these 2 that bring down the PPH.

Putting these off line, may increase the PPH, but significantly reduce the output overall, increasing the speed of machines is scheduled for later in the year - as per another post, I may have to look at moving it forward.

Does the PPH really matter? I'm doing the Gflops and and returning some good stats:

03/05/2014 0:207:01:46:33 699,676 831
03/04/2014 0:204:03:08:20 647,661 756
03/03/2014 0:298:22:39:39 971,419 1,155

I would appreciate your (and anyone else's) thoughts...

Average PPH does not matter except as a way to measure your own efficiency. What matters is getting the science done even is all that is available is slower machines. Of course those who are pursuing runtime badges only care about total runtime and a slow machine is just as good as a fast one (all threads being equal).

Re: Increasing Points Per Hour?

Hesitantly disagreeing with deltavee wink I suggest that since SNURK describes it as Efficency 120 Pts/h it is Points per hour of Runtime

Looking at Mamajuana's stats as of lunchtime today:
Runtime 430900777 seconds
Points 13967391

13967391/430900777*60*60= 116.69

The discrepancy arises because Globe Sigs are only updated once per day. I could, however, be wrong! blushing

Re: Increasing Points Per Hour?

Many thanks to both of you, however, I think the important thing is that the crunching is being done as has been said. As I'm looking at upgrading my machines later in the year, I'm not going to worry about it!

I'm currently reporting about 6 months crunching time per day! I'll look at increasing that some what and forget about the points..

Thanks again...

That is exactly the attitude that we all should have... let's all crunch and have fun... screw the points !!!

818 Gflops already,
I wasn't serious about you getting to a terraflop,
that is IMPRESSIVE hypnotized

I'll trade you my efficiency for your production anyday!

Looking at my stats tonight.

1804336 hours
812,201,169 points
812,201,169/1804336 = 450.13 Pts/h

This is more that two and half times what is in my SUNRK sig. This is the result of the HCC1 GPU project that had very high points. The 168 Pts/sh in the SNURK sig is only what I have been averaging lately. So it must be an average of only recent runtime.

Thanks Jack, looking at todays Gflops of 857 - its still increasing, even I'm wondering if the Tflop mark is achievable...

Thinking about it, I think it is! one of my MegaCrunchers is offline at the moment, this is 4p/64 th, when that comes back online, I should be able to hit the big 'T' mark!

Not that would be a real milestone, there are currently only two members (with a SNURK sig) who hit that level:

    Halbarath - 1036
    RAMMIE - 1014
    Jason148963 - 893
    Mamajuana - 857

Joining the '1T Club' is not my main target!
