projects taking really long

Im on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and many times the projects are taking 100+ hours to complete. I linked a photo of my screen from google plus, I dont Like how I have to have a photo account to link images, so G plus is what I got.

Is it normal for projects to take that long on android? I have 4 other android devices and the average time for those devices are 10 hours.

Re: projects taking really long

I think we're just in a series of really long workunits, as the most recently completed one on my Galaxy S3 took 31 hours.

Re: projects taking really long

Do you have any other results for that device in your "My results" page? I noticed that the WU I was referring to shows only 7.84 actual CPU hours out of 33.43 elapsed (BOINC running). I've not really paid attention to that recently, but it could have something to do with the recent software update to Android 4.3 for me... Anything else running on your device that uses CPU gets a higher priority, and thus takes away that time from BOINC.

Re: projects taking really long

I have noticed with the latest update, WUs no longer ERROR out they just lock up and sit there. I now have to abort 2 out of every 3 WUs. However, as I've stated in the past, one phone I have that is running the BOINC Android program from last September (I do not allow it to update) is still crunching flawlessly. As I've said before, they need to roll ALL updates back to that version until they can figure out what is wrong with the APP.

Re: projects taking really long

My nexus 7(2012 model) takes anywhere from 8 to 43 hours, my HTC One having a stronger processor normally finishes in under 30 hours.

Re: projects taking really long

I have experienced the same thing. I have a samsung galaxy tab, and I have a work unit that has a deadline on the 11th, but its only 80% done. This is just one of several. If that is the case is it better to just stop computing for that task so that the next ones wont be delayed?

Re: projects taking really long

The desktop versions of BOINC are supposed to get better over time in their work requests, so I assume that the Android version does as well. That is, you really don't need to get too picky with manual management of your tasks unless you absolutely know that you will not make a hard deadline. In fact, aborting too many tasks--especially on a new device--may result in requesting too much work for the device to reasonably complete in time.

In most cases, the projects will still accept a completed task past the published deadline, though exactly how much longer depends on the project. WCG will give you credit for a task completed up to 7 days past the published deadline.
