I was just wondering if anybody has any info on how much time is left for CEP2? According to the Sekerob chart (last updated on March 28) there were 63 days left to the project. Extrapolating, there should now be something like 45 days left aprox. In a thread 6 months ago, CEP3 was a consideration, but there were not "enough researchers working on the project to make a big push for it".
----------------------------------------And now, my history with CEP2... in the beginning (aprox a year ago), I really wasn't interested in CEP2... it wasn't a biological project and it was definitely a bitch to crunch (besides having ginormous sized WUs). But little by little, I found ways to crunch the CEP2 WUs and now I have a certain affection for the project... so much so, that I'm trying to make it ruby before it ends ![]() Thanks, CJSL Crunching for a better world... |

I'm wondering about this too, but the latest information was, that there's no fixed end to this, since they are still generating new targets:

ah... thanks for the link. OK, so no fixed end date in sight. Great... therefore, ruby, here I come !!!

Hi all,
Yes you are correct in saying there is no fixed end. The best way to think of CEP2 is as a series of experiments, each of which inform the next. We learn from the work you crunchers do, and the molecules that you return, and use that knowledge to make the next set of molecules cooler, and more exciting! Glad to hear that you are enjoying the project! Your Harvard CEP Team |

Hi all, Yes you are correct in saying there is no fixed end. Your Harvard CEP Team Thanks for that definitive word. Now we know what we need to do. |

We learn from the work you crunchers do, and the molecules that you return, and use that knowledge to make the next set of molecules cooler, and more exciting! If I can paraphrase, this is a feedback sort of mechanism used to decide where the next targets should come from. Would this be a correct assumption ? Cheers

Too bad that wasn't the case with the first phase of the project, or else I wouldn't be stuck with this petty Ruby badge!
----------------------------------------Now that I've got a Sapphire for CEP2, I'll be crunching towards Sapphire for MCM and AIDS, before returning here to crunch through until the next subproject gets released. |

Looks like not offering badges past Sapphire may not appropriately bell-curve the WCG donor base with CEP2 then ![]() |

Looks like not offering badges past Sapphire may not appropriately bell-curve the WCG donor base with CEP2 then If I had known that there would have been work past the approx. 50 days that Sekerob's charts had shown, then I may have chosen not to start with MCM. But, now that I've started I might as well crunch through to a Sapphire. Don't want a repeat of Rice, where I was 42 hours short of Sapphire--mostly because I jumped the gun and canceled too many workunits. |
