Quadcore processor chrunshing

I got a new Lenovo quad core processor laptop, but WCG is only crunching 2 tasks and not 4 as expected.... how can I achieve full work when computer is mostly idle? According to task manager 2 cores are using only 50-60 % of the capacity although my Open Hardware monitor is showing that all cores are working 35-65%
Pleased to hear

Re: Quadcore processor chrunshing

Go into Advanded View.
Then click the Advanced Tab, Preferences, Processor Usage Tab, On Multiprocessor Systems, use at most... Change that to 100%

That will use all 4 cores.

Re: Quadcore processor chrunshing

I know the default WCG is to use 65% of processor time... With a quad core laptop, you might be interested in leaving it on two cores at 100%. In my tests, I was able to keep heat and fan noise to an acceptable level, while having the added benefit of using less memory.

If you're not having any problems though, perhaps 4 cores at 65% will work better for you, in terms of work throughput.

Re: Quadcore processor chrunshing

So long as you're happy, I would probably be fine with that setting as well but I was setting said quad-core laptop up for my Mom who complained about the fan noise.
