Alarm clock feature?

I don't have an Android smartphone but I do have an iPhone 4 with an older iOS. AKA my knowledge is limited ;)

With my phone, only the app that is open is doing something. If my alarm clock is, say not on the top, it doesn't play music to wake me up. It does do an annoying stereotypical alarm clock noise which I hate.

Does Android work the same way? AKA I am going to sleep, want to run BOINC but need my alarm clock open and only one of the two apps can work at the same time. Is that true? Can people run BOINC and an alarm clock at the same time or does one override the other?

If so then what about adding an alarm clock like these people have? By also promoting it as an alarm clock it could get some people to contribute that wouldn't otherwise.

The agent works on the principle of using ´spare´ cycles, those left over by the user and any of it´s applications, and is designed to do this in the ´background´.

Pehaps you should consider updating your iOS. It's free, and the newer ones multitask.

Re: Alarm clock feature?

I have also iPhone 4 with iOS 7.1.1 (the most recent one). Some apps are less responsive thus slower (those optimized for newer hardware), but all-in-all, I like this iOS much more than iOS 6 and much more than iOS 5 (especially Activation lock - priceless feature devilish ). Also, selecting which application you want to be refreshed in background is very useful (since not all apps are continuously refreshed, you save battery wink )

Cheers peace

ETA: ErikaT, could you, please, move this thread to Chat Room? TIA smile
