This thread is to enable members of the UK team to post brief profiles of themselves, (if they wish), to enable others to get to know and understand them better. Please only use one post and if anything alters or you wish to add anything please edit your post. I will make a start as a brief guide.

Age(if you dare): 73 Occupation: 24 years in the Army (Royal Signals) 20 Years Defence Industry, now retired. Machines Running: Four 24/7 (3 four core, one 2 core), Two part-time 4 core. Since retiring in 2001 I have had a number of hobbies including Model Railways, Radio controlled boats but I am having to cut down due to failing lungs and needing oxygen for at least 16 hours per day. |

----------------------------------------56 25 years behind a desk as a manager, most latterly in NHS Primary Care, before escaping to become a publican. Currently recovering from a stroke. Broad leisure interests but especially Current Affairs and sports generally. Rugby is my passion - I was a senior Referee in the last years before the game turned professional. Crunching with 2 desktops: an AMD quad core and an Intel dual core with a laptop when available. All Win 7. |

----------------------------------------Age - 50 something. Occupation - 22 Years in the Royal Air Force, now enjoying a 2nd career as a Probation Officer. Running a Sandy Bridge i7 when I'm off work, and a Sandy Bridge i5 laptop whilst at work. As for hobbies, mainly depends on what I'm working, but I try to watch Barnsley FC as often as I can, and I devote far too much time & money on my cars (an MG ZT190 & a Mercedes Benz SLK350). I also detail cars for friends.  |

Age: Definitely Occupation: Retired IT professional (MBCS CITP) Hobbies: When I retired I not only stopped work but also quit my positions as a parish councillor (and sometime chairperson) and as the chair of a local charity. The only things I didn't stop doing were bell ringing and hill walking. But I then trained to teach bell ringing to others and I also took up beekeeping. I enjoy whisky, beer and wine, but very much in moderation. I wish I understood particle physics better than I do, and for some crazy reason I've started to learn Gàidhlig. |

----------------------------------------Age: 37 Occupation: ISP Sysadmin for the last 9.5 years, after getting my BSc Maths what seems like half a lifetime ago. Hobbies: Board/card gaming, motor-racing (mainly watching, but used to do a bit of marshalling for a local(ish) small motor-racing event), reading, beer (very convenient having a good/quiet local pub only 50 metres away). Fears: Power cuts (somewhat less scary with a UPS at home, thankfully), the dreaded on-call phone for work. Farm: had to cut down quite a bit, recently, due to some equipment-shuffling in work, but currently running 1 x 8-core 2.4GHz VM and a 4-thread Xeon/P4 hybrid thing that's exceptionally old but reliably churns out the work-units. Plans are afoot to add to the farm considerably...  |

Male 65 Ex publican, moved to IT Support / Training. Now trying to write a novel, thinking of enrolling for Open Uni for history degree. Support Sheff Wednesday, go to games when funds permit travel to Sheffield, live now in the country south of London. Now just the one PC, AMD Phenom 4 core 64 bit. Home built running Windows 7 Professional. Sometimes have guest machine (usually rebuilds running Linux). ---------------------------------------- |
