Re: Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 BETA test new workunits - July 31, 2014 [ Issues Thread ]

I can also confirm that the task I had was short running about 0.96 of run-time. I also noticed that the task only had 7 jobs in it. Will be interesting to see when these tasks get to the main grid whether or not the jobs will increase back to 16 or whether they will stay low.

On a side note from an earlier post my downloads parked through at reasonable speed one was about 76 kB 2nd and the other was over 200 kB per 2nd

Is it required to be signed up for cep2 to get these betas? When not, would it be appropriate this is checked before the regular beta tester gets them served, by mistake if you will. Technically one poorly device here meets the production requirements and is signed up for the beta program, but it would be heaving under the load.

Ps, the subject reads as were there no new application, just a test to see if the new library will process correctly. True / false?

Where is a possibility to sign up for CEP2? Or you meant currently crunching it?

Technically these are Beta WUs and not CEP2 WUs. Therefore you do not need to have CEP2 selected to get these Betas.

Re: Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 BETA test new workunits - July 31, 2014 [ Issues Thread ]

Correct, these were just straight BETA work units. If you were signed up to receive BETA at the start of this test, your machines may have downloaded these work units.

Lavaflow, these are just a test of new work units. It is a quick test to see if they run on the grid after going through being created, downloaded by us, built into boinc workunits by us, then running on the volunteer machines. Also, as an added bonus we get to see how fast they run on WCG as well.

Please note, that the large upload file that normally gets sent back with a standard CEP2 result was not sent back for these. As it was not required for the test we were conducting.

Thanks,

I'm not getting CEP2 Beta units anymore, so can't verify now. But those before were eventually downloaded completely. Some already reported back (0.5 - 1 h runtime). Progress indicator was way off, incrementing slowly, thus finished ahead of that. But this occurs with regular CEP2 as well.

I second that. It has nothing to do with reality rolling eyes

Cheers coffee

ETA: at least on my Mac OS X 10.9.4 15-2500S (7.0.65) on which I was able to see the progress. My Win7 64b i7-3770 (7.2.42) finished it while I was at work.

This is a good one for old machines. 1.41 hours for a P3 laptop running at 800MHz. If it were running at full speed, it might have come in under the i5 time!
