Thanks for the advice about the flooding, I appreciate it.
Here is what occurred and what is being done to rectify it. Occurred: Raining in the area for almost a week solid (at the time) then a major down poor, my house is older (1958 was built) and the sump was directly connected to the sewer system, however with that much rain the sewer system was full and my pump could not push the water into it, therefore the basement flooded. Insurance is going to cover that part of the damage (floors, and walls and content damage). However (only been in the house just shy of 3 years) when the sub floors and walls were removed discovered seepage through the concrete blocks. And in 3 areas (small enough but I don't like the thought) there is mold, formed (it looks older). Whats Being Done: So what is occurring is I have already re routed my sump to pump out to the ditch instead of the sewer. I have to have my external weeping done and waterproof the basement from the outside (out my pocket fully,bleh... if it was the spring I would do it myself and save the $ but no time before winter so a contractor it is.) It will be done mid to late November(start of the project). I am starting the process of cleaning the mold tonight (I have looked into what needs to be done), can only start as the insurance company workers are coming tomorrow to remove the remain walls. (why do there job for them when they are getting paid for it). Finish the mold removal this weekend. Start to replace and studded walls -seems to be the external no load bearing walls only- that show signs of molding (I am not messing around with trying to clean it them apart from the 1 load bearing wall and from what I can see that has no mold) Once the external weeping is and water proofing is done I can get the insurance's contractor back to finish my basement off (reconstruct it). And while all of this in going on I am rerouting some plumbing and fixing(replacing) some electrical. So in a nut shell I will be busy, lol. |

Sounds like the northwest US (I have a "kid" sister in Portland) wit that kind of rain but, if I recall the weather of the recent past right, could be the NE as well. Whatever the case, you will indeed be a busy little boy!! Do they still dig out the dirt a foot or so from the walls these days when waterproofing exterior undeground walls (which does wonders for your landscaping) or have they found something better? Smart move on the mold. That doesn't have to get bad to start causing problems. Looks like Thanksgiving will be a real party for you! Whew! |

I recently got an ASUS i7 with a bunch of RAM and it is running Windows 8.1 -- that has helped to increase the points per day I am getting but I don't know how it will affect my power bill. I have been trying to get to a function that describes the contents of the ASUS system, but have not had any positive results.
Can anyone provide any info on how to do this with 8.1? |

Try dxdiag
That usually reveals a bunch of system info. |
