Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 65 smilesmile

Not an easy question to answer. smile At this moment, I have 14 computers running. Some are at my granddaughters, some at my son's, some at a local genealogical society, most at my house. These things come and go based on all kinds of things. Most of them I built myself over the years. Most of them are I7s. There is one Kindle Fire HD, one core2 duo, a couple Core 2 Quads, and one atom.

The core 2 duo is a Dell as are the two core 2 quads. The remainder I built (with the obvious exception of the Kindle Fire HD). At the moment, there are no laptops -- all desktops (again except the Kindle). This will change soon for some reason or other. It also changes during the summer when it is too hot to run them all here at the house (Currently 5 I7s, Atom and Kindle). The machine I am typing on is one of the three I7-2600s which is the fastest machine I have. There is one GPU of merit which is unused at the moment.

Sorry there was no simple answer. Regards all and keep crunching. The life you save could be anyone's.

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 65 smilesmile

I now have 5 PC with 0 OET wu running.
It is not the most brilliant idea to release a new project if you don't have wu to keep the troops busy. When my last PC runs out of wu I will take all of them of line for good and find an other DC to join.
You will make me believe you went to the moon !!!! Not with those project managers that's for sure.

I can understand that Rej. I'm not sure how much of the blame belongs to WCG though. At least some of it has to belong to Scripps, if not most. Ebola is clearly big news fodder these days. Having an Ebola project could be quite high profile media-wise, especially if it comes up with some really good looking drug candidates or new treatments. That's quite possible with it getting crunched here at WCG. Scripps has done several projects with WCG so they're the potential "bull in the china shop" in that WCG is understandably going to want to keep them happy. WCG also has taken heat from many crunchers about so few projects lately. A lot of folks who got involved when we had 7-8 projects didn't have the perspective of those of us here earlier. I suppose that short run up ended up biting a bit. Uplinger has been very open about the project. I will admit though that I'm a tad surprised by some of what he's said. I think just last night I read him mentioning something about getting midpoint checkpointing added to OET. Do I think OET got rushed through? Probably. The beta period for the project was fast. They've talked about not having the volume of WUs really needed yet plus the checkpointing item. Now on the flip side, VINA based projects are a lot easier and faster to stage. All new projects have a bit of a "shakedown" period. OET's may be a bit more involved than usual though. For me, I still have UGM to work on. I just made ruby the other day. Plus, there's always more MCM I could crunch too. Yes, OET is a lot more "visible" that most projects but it's still needed science. Once I hit sapphire on UGM, I'll be crunching OET.

I have 5 machines running and I only have OET work on one of them. Since I had the option selected (in My Projects) for "If there is no work available...", I was getting work for all of the other projects even though OET was all that I selected! I decided to uncheck "If there is no work..." to see if that will resolve the problem I am having getting OET WUs.

You got more OET Wus than I was able to snag. Oh well when they get more I will switch back to full OET and try to catch up. As for now, I am MCM pretty much full time with some smattering of other stuff.

Everyone have a great day/evening/morning depending on when you read this. smile
