Unable to attach to project on second computer?

Just what it says. I have an older desktop I've freed up... boinc is installed and running several projects now but it will not accept my username/password combination to attach the project. I've even tried resetting the password both randomly and through the "forgot password" link... neither works.

Anyone got an idea of how to fix this?

Hello DJSparkles,

You havn't forgotten, that for attaching WCG to BOINC you have to login with your username, not e-mail address as it is common for all other projects?

If this doesn't work, reboot your PC, start BOINC and post please the first 50-60 rows of Event log.

Cheers good luck

Re: Unable to attach to project on second computer?

So they guy writes 'will not accept my username/password combination to attach the project', and you write 'You havn't forgotten, that for attaching WCG to BOINC you have to login with your username, not e-mail address'. Either there's a disconnect between hands and brain or brain and screen. confused

DJSparkles, a bypass is using the account key in the attach procedure through a cmd window and the boinccmd tool. You need to go to the program folder of boinc first, usually cd c:\program files\boinc then

boincmd --project_attach www.worldcommunitygrid.org account_key

The account key you find near bottom of the 'settings > my profile' page. Just now tested the procedure and was told, of course, 'already attached to project'.

The specific error message you get is of interest.

Re: Unable to attach to project on second computer?

A 'new' member came here for help in a first post. The admin is well aware of the forum rules which in amongst say to be kid friendly. In that respect i've got no trouble to leave your juvenile, albeit retaliatory ad-hom intended post up. A little underpants fun is surely uplifting. tongue

So, when I am called an idiot via
...Either there's a disconnect between hands and brain or brain and screen...
statement, it is appropriate forum language and/or appropriate forum content ErikaT? And when I answer to such insult by using classics' quote
I fart in your general direction
it isn't?

Great ErikaT, great applause applause applause

branjo,

I wish everyone on here was nice to each other (and used kid-friendly language!) all the time, and then I wouldn't have to edit posts at all. wink Alas, that is not realistic - is it? So, I have to edit out certain words/phrases that you know are not kid-friendly. The comment about the disconnect between hands and brain, while not polite, didn't use profanity. If the insults had continued and things escalated, I would have stepped in to moderate.
