A Saturday Beta. Hmmm... ![]() It's of interest it needed a new application build to overcome a sizing issue, as if the app autonomously chooses how much to do or what to pick, with a bi-directional exchange server-agent to tell who's doing what. |

The application change was to fix a minor graphics issue. It is unrelated to the sizing. The actual science application wss not modified.

Now that makes sense. Graphics, the fip aka forum important persons always go on about what a waste graphics are, but don't have those stop you to make some nice glossy 3d stuff to use as screensaver sales pitch. 3d that we can actually drag around even better, a true recruitment badge earner

The timing is impressive. Large numbers of results should be going no reply about the same time as this batch issued. More members getting results spread across more machines.
----------------------------------------No problems seen so far on this batch. Sizes seem more consistent as well. Most are projected to end around three hours to six hours (30,31) with some (32) eight plus hours. ![]() Distributed computing volunteer since September 27, 2000 |

A Saturday Beta. Hmmm... Indeed. That might catch out a few regulars. Only happened once previously in the last 4 years, the HCC Mac GPU Beta Test on 26 Jan 2013.![]() |

The first of mine has completed, in 2.4 hours, the last Result Log message being "19500 query sequences compared".
----------------------------------------Edit a few minutes later: The last to finish took 2.52 hours, 58000 query sequences compared. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Oct 11, 2014 5:15:51 PM] |

Typically graphics on a beta is simply black screen. They'll release the screen saver with production as that would be more than a hint as to what the project is.

So, large numbers of my units have completed. Even got a few no-reply resends from the first batch.
----------------------------------------It's a bittersweet feeling that there will likely be no further beta runs combined with the happiness of a new project launching soon*. *Of course we all realize soon is rigidly defined as anywhere from the next couple minutes to some time this millennium. Must meet expectations, even unrealistic ones. Edit: Now the race it to get that red ! off my globe signature in time. ![]() Distributed computing volunteer since September 27, 2000 [Edit 1 times, last edit by KWSN - A Shrubbery at Oct 11, 2014 7:00:55 PM] |
