the unloved SSD -- sandisk extreme pro

while everyone is hot and heavy for Samsung 840 and 850 Pro this month, the excellent SanDisk Extreme Pro's rank right there in performance.

i almost feel sorry for the company, although i just got quite a deal based on numbers. give them a look if you're shopping.

Re: the unloved SSD -- sandisk extreme pro

I've got several of the regular Sandisk SSD's (not extreme or pro) but they still blaze past any HD I've ever had. Very happy with the performance and would buy another one right away. Intel and Sandisk are my favorite SSD's based on years of reliable use.

Re: the unloved SSD -- sandisk extreme pro

If you use Sandisk extreme2 or pro ssd's you will find that they retain their speed even under heavy usage and while garbage collection is taking place.

The limited guarantee on these is >80TB (country dependent?) so I guess you could calculate how many cores it would take to run up that total over the course of 5 years when running Cep2, but at 43GB/day most folks will be OK.

(anyone have the average writes during running figure for a cep2 wu ??)

Intel 520, Samsung 840 Pro and Sandisk Extreme Pro here all running WCG.

The only other SSD I own is a Seagate 600 Pro 200 which I bought for its capability to handle 285GB/day
