"Too Late" doesn't always mean what it says. See the FAQ that describes unusual uses of the "Too Late" status designation, in particular "Occasionally a result previously marked Pending Validation and for which a distribution is stopped without complete quorum is converted to the Too Late state and credit granted as claimed. Internally these task results are noted as Skipped, for later review".
