I picked up some between 21:22 and 21:39 GMT, but none after that. There are now 4 Valid with the rest in PVal state. All the Result Logs look normal. I wasn't around to test any checkpointing etc.
Amazingly, two machines picked up the same unit, both these results are mine: BETA_ ugm1_ ugm1_ 10375_ 1368_ 0-- 728 Valid 07/04/15 21:37:12 07/04/15 23:47:43 2.05 68.0 / 76.9 BETA_ ugm1_ ugm1_ 10375_ 1368_ 1-- 728 Valid 07/04/15 21:37:12 08/04/15 00:10:33 2.48 85.9 / 76.9 |

The amount of data written to disk has been effectively considerably reduced, great.
----------------------------------------But still, file result.tmp is still written in real time** which seems useless when the application is not in debugging mode: data written in this file between checkpoints will never be used by anybody in the users community. Wouldn't it be possible to buffer it until the next effective checkpoint? Edit: ** As shown by Windows Resource Monitor (Disk) during execution. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by JmBoullier at Apr 8, 2015 9:49:22 AM] |

Yes, I'd help to squeeze out the last 0.0001% efficiency I suppose.
On doing the daily reviewing of the RS pages, a thousands of miles away ancient had grabbed one, PVal, with a rather mundane log [A local start time like there is the end time would be nice]. Being so far away, no way to test the key function, checkpoint recovery. The end of the perpetual result writing is taken for granted as having been achieved. Picked up one on a Win 7 -64 (AMD 9150e 1.8 GHz) machine. It seems to run just fine after a restart, but the estimated time to completion appears to be out of whack, being grossly overestimated. Currently 35% completed in 2 hours 10 minutes with estimated time left of 14 hours.
----------------------------------------Edit: Finished in 6 hours 13 minutes - Valid Cheers

By the meaning of "improved performance" are you meaning that we will get more science done in the same amount of time or will the time it takes to write checkpoints be shortened?
