Date Format

OK, it's finally got to the point where I've just got to say something. Up until now I've been generally able to guess whether the dates I'm looking at are in US or UK date format, but I just saw a page that really threw me. I saw these three lines in someone's statistics:

Last Result Returned (UTC) 01/05/15 22:24:30 [1+ hour(s) ago]
Device Installations 3
Registered Member Since 01/08/2015

The top line shows a date in UK format without the century. The last line shows a date in US format with the century. When I first read it I thought the person concerned was yet to register -- it looks like a date three months into the future!

PLEASE can we have consistency across all the fields on the screen? Could you find a summer intern for a couple of weeks to go through them all and tidy them up? I realise that for you guys in the US you don't see a problem, but this is driving me crazy!

I actually think it might be less confusing to everyone if you ignored the locale of the user altogether and simply displayed all dates in ISO format.

And I apologise if this has been raised already, but a quick forum search didn't find it (but that's another thing).

Re: Date Format

I totally second this motion. Ideally, it'd be tremendous if ALL dates across the whole of the website used the users local format (UK = DD/MM/YY, US = MM/DD/YY etc.), although even if it was just standard across the board that'd certainly be something.

Re: Date Format

Consistency of formats and units would be welcome or at least choice of showing WCG points or BOINC points and run time as Y:M:D:H:M:S or seconds.

Re: Date Format

Name the month so that 02 MAY 2015 and MAY 02 2015 cause no uncertainty at all wherever one lives or whatever one is used to.

Now then.... Did I join on 06 MAY 2009 or 05 JUN 2009 ?? wink

clicking on my name shows it how I believe it should be

Just use ISO 8601 date format everywhere, all problems solved...

Hi all,

We have this on our 'list' of items to address at some point in the future.

Thank you,

What is the logic behind having WCG points = 7X BOINC points?

. . . I can't see any.

Re: Date Format

Short History: 7 WCG points were at the time when adopting BOINC in 2005 as second agent to the UD Agent deemed equal to 1 BOINC credit. Therefor, to represent BOINC work on par with WCG points, the BOINC credit is multiplied by 7. [See Help and old forum discussions for more, if you want to know].

Re: Date Format

As this is an international project with people participating from all over the world, I would think that the only unambiguous date format is YYYY-MM-DD.
