FightAIDS@Home - Phase 2 validators turned off temporarily [Resolved]

Hello,

At the moment, one of the validators for FAHB is disabled while I investigate and fix an issue related to creating next generation work units. There has been an error that was generated every 5 or so days and I was able to catch it this morning. Now that I have caught the issue, I will work towards getting it fixed.

Currently we have 3 validators for FAHB, so this means that only 2/3s of the results are being validated at this time. Your results will be validated once we get a fix in place. There is no ETA, but it could be 24-48 hours that this validator is down while I test fixes on alpha before promoting it to production.

Thank you for your patience during this time. I will try to keep everyone updated.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Maybe I learn something new today... are you saying a 'validator' is a set of rules to check if a result is yes or no go [after some parcel-type distribution system assigned it to the right validator], so the results destined to be checked by validator #3, are held till you have implemented the permanent cast iron solution?

Re: FightAIDS@Home - Phase 2 validators turned off temporarily

Dataman,

Still doing some testing. It is hard to force it to reproduce in alpha. So testing is going slow. The problem only occurred once every few days in the past on production. My hope is to have it corrected completely before restarting validation.

Dango,

Yes it could affect this. Because with the validator down, it is causing the next generation work units to not be created. With the validator down, it mean that a portion of the results are getting new copies. There is still work being created, just at a lower rate than usual. I may have a way to help with this, but I need to make sure I have the data captured before.

To all,

Sorry again about this, we hope to have things running full blast again soon.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

Re: FightAIDS@Home - Phase 2 validators turned off temporarily

Ah so "so this means that only 2/3s of the results are being validated at this time"

might not mean 1/3rd is left in hold circling O'Hare,

It does not mean "Because with the validator down, it is causing the next generation work units to not be created. "

neither

"With the validator down, it mean that a portion of the results are getting new copies."

homing in "There is still work being created, just at a lower rate than usual".

The real simple answers is, the queue is just longer, all is squeezed through 2 validators instead of 3. Phew, there I thought language was simple, or maybe it;s my inadequasies of comprehending inglese.

Thangs for clearing that up uplinger.

The validators are back online fully. This should catch up quickly.

Again, thank you for your patience and understanding.
