Dupuytren's Contracture Genetic Study

I have Dupuytren's Contracture, a hand deformity that usually develops over years. The condition affects a layer of tissue that lies under the skin of your palm. Knots of tissue form under the skin — eventually creating a thick cords that can pull one or more fingers into a bent position. This is a benign genetic disease that is very common in people of Scandanavian/northern European descent. There are treatments for it, but none of these are a pemanent cure -- the contracture is likely to recur. There is an ongoing genetic study and I encourage those who have this disease to participate. It is free to all participants.

To all ... , from the Dupuytren Foundation. We need all of your help!!!! Our International Dupuytrens Data Bank is up and running but we only have 751 people registered to date. If you haven't enrolled please go to dupstudy.com and enroll. We also need all of you to aggressively recruit the people you know who have DD to enroll. We at the Dupuytrens Foundation need your help in this, we can't do it all ourselves. We have hired a Grant writer and are going after Private Foundations for funding, it's going to take some time to raise the funds. We have not and will not ask you for money, but please help us in recruiting. We need at least 10K DD patients to test , a long way to go from 751. We are hopeful that before the end of this year we can start testing by sending you blood kits , where you will send your blood sample to the Arthritis Research Foundation that will do our testing. Please help us, this is more important than anything else you can do for your fellow DD patients, because were going to find the CURE!

Thank You
Tom Knapp, Dupuytrens Foundation Board Member

This study may require some programmatical manipulation, and I suppose there is a small chance of it ending up as a WCG project.

If you have this condition, I'm sorry for you, but please enroll to help find a cure. Also please pass this on, if you know of anyone else with the condition.

Thanks--
