Temporarily failed download of hst1_02_v01.png: HTTP error
Some members have posted that they are not able to download the slideshow images.

Can you please see if you can pull up the image in your web browser:

If this still does not work, I am investigating how to update the slideshow images to download from multiple sources.

Yes, that link works for me, but still getting a back off on downloads for BOINC.

Dave,

Delete the current downloads, then hit update. Next time you get lucky enough to get WUs, you will be able to download the files. Already tested and worked for me. This was the work-around for the FAAH download issue

If you mean Abort Transfer, I already tried that and got:

No tasks at all for WCG. I need to get ready for work and will have another look later in the day. Will run Rosetta in the meantime.

BOINC was giving off backoff messages before & after I successfully loaded the graphic. I aborted the download & tried again without much luck receiving the following message:

I don't think it immediately picked up that I aborted the file downloads. I'll get there eventually!

Having all sorts of problems with "transient HTTP error"s, stuck downloads (mostly of image-files but also others), failure to download tasks, and failure to attach a new BOINC installation (Linux, in a VM) to WCG.

The failure to attach gets the error when trying to download the WCG "master" file ... error message is to try again later, but I've done that lots of times. The client attached to DENIS@home first go (no tasks there ATM tho).

I was able to cajole the new Windows 7 x64 client into working by aborting the stuck downloads, shutting down the BOINC service & copying in the wanted files from a working BOINC installation on another machine. Plus a number of project resets.

Real user-friendly-like. I'd fell Real Confident about recommending WCG to friends. Not.

BOINC has always had an issue with stuck downloads, and nothing seems to have changed.
(One other client has a phantom stuck upload, due 2 March 16. Nothing in Transfers tab, no files with name visibly associated with the task, just an entry "Uploading" in the Tasks tab. Duh.)
