Lung Cancer... it is the reason I started crunching at all. gta198, as someone who lost their mother to lung cancer when she was only 45, I wholeheartedly agree. Good news is, Mapping Cancer Markers is doing preliminary lung cancer work, according to their mission statement: "Mapping Cancer Markers on World Community Grid aims to identify the markers associated with various types of cancer. The project is analyzing millions of data points collected from thousands of healthy and cancerous patient tissue samples. These include tissues with lung, ovarian, prostate, pancreatic and breast cancers" According to some surveys, heart disease kills more than all cancers combined. (http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/282929.php ) So it would be good to see a few projects dedicated to fighting on the heart dieease front as well. Good choises. Yes cancer affekt us all if we dont get it our self under a life time we all have one close to us what gets it. I have also a person I known for years what is dying in brain cancer and are just 35 years old and will leave 2 little children.
I also feel for all sorts of lung decises beacause i have an uncle what has a far gone Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and there fore know how painful and frighten it is to see a person what has problem with breath. |
