Re: ECD topic

- HSTB waiting for more data...

I'm sending them in as fast as I can! biggrin

Well not only the Research page, but also BOINC server is making "false ending" of the project. Maybe techs & admins can check it out?

Re: ECD topic

Start of May 2019 ECD's:

Comments:
- HSTB still can't give you any estimate, as WCG data is broken. Admins & Techs, when can we expect to solve this issue?
- ZIKA is ending 2 weeks later
- FAHB is ending 2 weeks sooner
- MCM is ending 2 weeks later
- MIP is ending 2 weeks later
Expect more slowdown, as most of northern hemisphere is doing the most work for WCG & we're getting higher summer temp. From previous years experiences, the slowdowns keep on up until end of Sep.
cool

Re: ECD topic

ECD's are late, as WCG has changed data on Research page: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/research/viewAllProjects.do
Some redesign was given & no data can't be drawn from there.

Also, no ECD was given from WCG for each of the projects.

Techs & Admins, is it an error, or do we need to find some alternative ways to keep track of ECD?

TY,

Re: ECD topic

Hi KLIK,

I regret to say that it's not an error -- it's a deliberate acton. The techs think that progress data is too inaccurate and a source of support calls and so a drain on their resources. They decided to change the progress bars on the research page -- AND to take down the API. That action has raised a storm (not too surprisingly). You can read more about it, and perhaps post your own thoughts, in this thread: www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,41583_offset,0#609250.

Personally I hope that the techs change their minds and reinstate the API but, if they don't, it would be wonderful if you can find sufficient alternative information sources to continue to produce ECD estimates. A lot of crunchers would be very grateful (those that didn't leave WCG, anyway). ANY half-meaningful ECD information would be extremely valuable. I'm starting to suspect an ulterior motive by the techs in taking this action, and I think that it could simply be the amount of work involved in collecting the data for the API -- but they haven't said that and, anyway, I wouldn't expect them to admit that easily.

Good luck!

Well u suspected right. The role of IBM is subject of rife and hot discussion on that thread" Change to the Project Progress Bars"
I hope WCG will still be supported and a solution be found for crunchers to follow their work with more accuracy and as it was possible with the help of KLICK.
We are part of the RESEARCH as well as others.

Re: ECD topic

I miss your posts, KLiK. I hope the devs reverse their decision soon.
