At the least, this is getting discouraging. More often, it's downright depressing. Don't be discouraged. Everyone is doing their part, including you. There will be an ebb and flow to how much crunching people do. Not everyone is afflicted with NMC (Need More Cores) disease. Keep up the good work. Cheers I did add 16core in the last 8 weeks yet my numbers are way lower. The reason is simple I don't get HSTB wu. So I am crunching rosetta for now. When or if they release wu and or they come up with a new project I will stop working on rosetta. Rej  THE ).( IS NAKED! Do you know what your PC is doing ??? |

Cheers Joe, a 30-40 percent drop is not normal ebb and flow. That's taken more than a week though. It's been a very long time since we fell below the 800K level. I think I may have figured out at least one possible factor though. About three days ago, my PV exploded. I normally run 30-45 (about one per thread). It was down to an unusually low 20-25 and the next day jumped to about 125, a good five-fold increase. Most of what I'm crunching at the moment is Zika with some HSTB (usually enough for two or so days of run time each day). Reading through the forums, seeing mentions of this mattdotvaughn user with like 7K threads running mainly Zika. Pulling down enough tasks for that many threads with any kind of buffer would require a LOT of wu. The bigger the buffer, the more likely wingmen will go PV if they run a smaller buffer. Just might account for some of what's up since Zika seems to be the predominant project for the moment. |
