I recently re-installed WCG / BOINC having previously contributed. It has been running for the last week and I can't see any communication errors in the log (it receives tasks and appears to upload them, based on seeing started upload and finished upload entries).
However, nothing is listed in My Contribution or Results Status, indeed there is no recent activity. The tasks I have received match only those listed in My Projects, so some form of communication has been successful. I'm on Windows 7. Any ideas? Thanks. |

Are you sure that you linked your new client installation to your existing account instead of creating a new account? From your description I suspect that is what may have happened. Depending on the project you have selected, there would be a few days lag in showing up on the My Contribution page until your results are validated, however you should be able to see your work in progress on the Results Status page. If you did create a new account, there is no way to merge the old and new accounts. You would have to re-attach the clients using the correct account and abandon the newly created account.

Hi NixChix. Thanks for replying.
----------------------------------------I wasn't asked to link the client to any account and I didn't (have to) create a new account. I have since re-installed the client and it picked up the same jobs that were in progress where it left off (at the point of removal). Interestingly, although I have no screenshot, when I downloaded the installation file there was 4 steps where it went something like this: Log in ==> Select projects ==> Download client ==> Start computing (maybe, can't be sure) It confirmed I was logged in (it displayed my name), it confirmed I had chosen projects and the next step was to download.... so it seems all was in order. Like I said, it is picking up my project choices so some connection is occurring here between my account and the client, I'm just seeing no results. I'm not looking for credit as such, but without seeing the results appear anywhere I don't know if the work that is being done is of any use. You mentioned re-attaching the client to to my account. I don't see any way to do so... can you provide the steps for me to attempt this? Thanks for your help. [Edit 1 times, last edit by cmckenna at Feb 7, 2017 10:14:05 AM] |

Open up BOINC Manager > Advanced View > Project Tab. What account is shown there... IBM maybe? There's help in help for IBM employees who want to switch crunching to their personal account.

Hi. Seems I sorted it.
Thanks Rob for reply, by the way. I removed the WCG project and added it again and it then asked for my userid and password. It then had my account name under Account in the Projects tab and immediately I can see an entry in the results page. Thanks for the help folks. |

Hi Rob. It seems that what you are saying is that if you are in a team (or my team in this case) that the credit goes to the team and not the personal account?

The help in help actually uses old client language [admin, sit up and pay attention \0^o/ ]

Hi all, thanks for the help.
I seems the removal of the project and subsequent re-addition resulted in my device getting registered. I had removed myself from the team I was in but seeing the device registered and updates to results occurring has re-assured me that the completed tasks are useful and getting through to WCG. I'll re-join the team now Thanks again. |
