Re: 1 Billion points Hardware recommendation please

personally if you are going for small and handy why not get usb computers ?

2.4 watts is hard to beat on points versus one usb port and with wifi a breeze

I'm actually really interested in this as an option - do you have any specs for what sort of workload these can chew through? Any examples of people who have used these (or even many of these?) and the sort of run time they provide? Interested in picking up a few of these as a fun little way to crunch data and wondering if it's worth it. Any data you could provide would be appreciated.

Re: 1 Billion points Hardware recommendation please

Will those even work? Only half precision, FP16.

I'd buy some cheap phones off ebay for $15-20 vs new compute sticks. Initial cost is high for computers on a USB stick.

Those look interesting but scare me on the heat aspect. How to keep such a small device cool, other than fab up a usb fan to blow air around it?

Re: 1 Billion points Hardware recommendation please

I am going for a billion points. I just added a Windows 10 I9 Intel 7900X. It has 10 cores and hyperthreading running 20 work units at a time. I plan on retiring from all this when I get to a billion points.
