No worries KLiK- microwaved food doesn't become radioactive, it becomes warm. It's still irradiated food source! Even low dosage of more then 0,07kGy is harmful for (some) insects. Not to mention changed polarity in water... ![]() |

A news item from DR (Denmark's Radio) this morning:
A report from EU’s Food Safety Authority, EFSA, determines that a number of pesticides used in agriculture, the socalled neonicotinoids are posing a risk for the life of bees. On March 22 representatives from the EU countries will meet to consider whether a total ban against three kinds of neonicotinoids should be imposed. The wheels they are aturning - ever so slowly and never full circle ![]() |

It’s May 20 – it’s Word Bee Day
![]() For some reason it’s a Slovenian website that pops up topping the list at a Google search. Obviously the Slovenians think we would like to know why Slovenia is so keen on bees, and we do, so they have ‘Why Slovenia’ on the menu and explains: Slovenia is a nation of beekeepers, and beekeeping enjoys a status equal to that of other types of agricultural activity. It’s a very nice website The EU unanimously supports World Bee Day they hypocritically declared on December 2017 while they still allowed farmers to use beekilling neonicotinoids. Not until april 27, 2018 was that substance completely banned. The good news is that the in the European Court 18 member states, including France, Germany, Italy and the UK, have endorsed a Commission proposal to further restrict the use of three active substances used in pesticides (Bayer’s imidacloprid and clothianidin, and Syngenta’s thiamethoxam). The bad news is that the farmers’ organisations in Hungary, Romania, Denmark and the Czech Republic were strong enough to demand their countries voted against … ![]() |

From 2014 farmers could no longer use neonicotinoids in nature preservation areas in the USA.
At the same time it was prohibited to grow GMO organisms. Both acts have now been rolled back by the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Specifics can be found in this article from The Guardian Hopefully some honey bees will survive. |

I'm not that big of an advocate for pesticides, as they have to be used with caution and care not to harm the biodiversity and create more significant issues than we are trying to solve. The only time I find it ok to use chemicals is in my house when I need to exterminate pests. I don't think many people would like to have cockroaches or rats in their homes roaming around just because the environment is affected by chemicals. Personally, I choose https://prudentpestcontrol.com.au/pest-control-brisbane/ as they are the only ones using the safest chemicals to exterminate them.

Hello Friends,
what to do? Maybe: * Buy ecologically grown food, especially the food basics (bread, noodles, flour) * plant bee friendly plants on your balkony, even in the city, but please: Fix them strongly that they do not fall down on pedestrians We are not helpless, little steps help too, if many humans take them All the best I will crunch on as long as I possibly can.... it is possible to buy wild bees.
----------------------------------------I sadly do not have a garden but for people who have one it is a possible support. They are very harmless, not at all like wasps.
