I have a quad-core laptop that has not reported in a week. It was working on mapping cancer markers. All four work units were around 100 hours of elapsed time so I decided to reset the project and to not allow mcm units. That was a couple of days ago and it still has not completed a unit. It is now working on fight aids at home. I just looked at one unit for 5 minutes. During that time elapsed time increased by only 3 minutes and remaining only decreased by 9 seconds. It stated that only 21% progress but elapsed is 13 hrs 42 mins and remaining is 2 hrs 18 mins which looks like 14 hours out of 16 hours which is more like 87% progress. I do not get close to 24hrs times the number of cores even when I run the computer 24/7. It feels like I am getting credit for about 60% of my true CPU time. I do not think it is the computers fault since it runs other programs just fine. So which should I depend on? The progress figure or my calculation of elapsed time divided by the total of elapsed and remaining times?

I assume you checked if you chose to use 100% of CPU time in computing preferences?
If that is the case, I would check in the task manager if any other task uses any noticable CPU time. After that I would not have many other ideas... maybe try running a live linux stick/cd and see if anything changes? |

I looked at the computer and all four work units(faah) have increased in both elapsed time and remaining time. Elapsed time is now much more than the total of elapsed time and remaining was a couple of days ago. This computer has been running wcg for at least 3 years and the amount of progress is still way off. So what am I suppose to do with this com[uter? Try uninstalling and installing?

Might be some other apps are using some computer power? What OS are you running? Is it legal? & did it run updates recently? ![]() |

It is windows 10 and it is legal and it did run the latest upgrade. It keeps adding time to the elapsed time but never gets any closer to completion. The last competed unit was 30 Dec.

Have you opened task manager to see if there is another task running that is consuming resources. If you click on the CPU column it should sort to the top. Windows update is infamous for getting stuck and using excessive CPU resources
