Fractal Intelligence and Nature

There was a recent show on a NOVA PBS called, Fractals - Hunting the hidden dimensions. It claims that virtually all designs found in nature to include living and non living things are of fractal origin and therefore can be computed or predicted.

Here is a spin-off fractal intelligence program that helps find patterns in seemingless random data.

I hope that one day soon such disocoveries will revolutionize modern medicine, treatment, disease and drug discoveries using super computers.

I thought this might be of interest to some users on here as I didn't know much about it before the show.

Re: Fractal Intelligence and Nature

What's this, some mathematical offshoot of intelligent design? Fractals are a perfect example of a small, simple rule producing fantastic and endlessly diverse, complicated results. But there is no intelligence guiding it - just that simple rule.

Also, going from chaos back to the simple rule is almost impossible.

Fortunately, there are other ways to find the rules underlying natural processes.

According to this video it is possible to analyze images and derive the original function for it. It is now used commercially for compression, digital imaging magnification.,etc
