Re: The well run dry?

Guys, get your Storage on BOINC up...so you'll not get dry anymore. ;)

I personally run it between 5-8 days of Storage.

How do you configure that for Linux?

Re: The well run dry?

You can do it through the WCG site.

1) Under My Contribution open My Projects and click the Device Manager hyperlink at the end of the first paragraph.
2) Click on a profile to edit it.
3) Choose Custom Profile and scroll to the section Workunit Cache Settings.
4) Cache X extra days of work.
5) Save, and all machines with the profile you modified will start caching work.

Yup, I got some at 16:14UT, but at 17:15 the well was dry again.

[Edit: Corrected the wrong way for UT.]

Re: The well run dry?

After getting some SCC WUs on Monday morning, after a short dry spell on late Sunday, a short while ago, all hosts are pulling again non-SCC WUs... sad

Re: The well run dry?

Found that approximately 2.5 days has been enough to see me through these dry spells...

How do you configure that for Linux?

Accomplish that here for each individual machine by using a global_prefs_override.xml file in the boinc directory, see the two work_buf_xxxx lines below... After editing this file you will need to run boinccmd with the "--read_global_prefs_override" directive for boinc to react to the change. Use "man boinccmd" for info on this directive and more. The "q" key will allow you to get back to the command line if you are not familiar with using the "man" command...

[root@samantha BOINC]# cat global_prefs_override.xml

Re: The well run dry?

A very large linux cluster came online and sucked up a bunch of scc1 workunits so the feeder is currently clogged with jobs that are assigned to linux. Once the clog clears everyone will resume getting work for SCC1.

Sorry. As of the wee hours of the morning on 10/22 UTC, I decreased the size of my cache significantly. And again just now. I'm sorry to have inconvenienced both SCC and OET users. biggrin

Homogeneous redundancy can have it's drawbacks. :)

Yep, but 4 days or less works for me.
